TRIA Prep Salute, June 8: North St. Paul baseball’s Sam Kennedy

North St. Paul senior Sam Kennedy is this year’s Gatorade Player of the Year for Minnesota High School baseball and local baseball fans won’t have to go far to watch him play at the next level.

He’s also earned the KSTP Sports / TRIA Prep SAlute for June 8, 2022.

A dual threat as a pitcher and hitter, Sam’s fastball has been clocked over 90 miles-an-hour and he maintained a batting average above .500 this spring.

He’s staying close to home for college set to joining the Minnesota Gophers baseball team in the fall. He picked the Gophers over some college baseball powerhouses like Arizona, Southern Cal, Pepperdine and Indiana.
