RV sales slow as gas prices climb

Rising gas prices have some Minnesotans who would normally take to the open road this summer rethinking their travel plans.
The RV business was booming during the pandemic when people weren’t flying to their destinations or staying in hotels, but that’s now changed.

Sales and rentals of RVs have slowed.
Ray Muckala, owner of Citywide RV in Maplewood, which rents motorhomes, says his business is way down from two years ago.

“We have one or two rentals in August,” Muckala said. “We don’t even have one unit booked for the whole summer. People are afraid. They don’t know what the future is going to hold.”
RVs get about 10 miles per gallon.
