2 apartments destroyed, 4 people displaced following overnight Minneapolis fire

Two apartments are considered uninhabitable after an early morning fire in a Minneapolis apartment building.

Fire officials said flames broke out shortly before 4:30 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found a second-floor unit was damaged by fire, and the unit below was damaged by water after a sprinkler went off.

Firefighters put out remaining hotspots.

The fire is now out, fire officials confirmed.

Fire is confirmed out. Apartment unit where fire originated is uninhabitable. The apartment unit located below that apartment also uninhabitable due to water damage. Red Cross has been called for 3 adults and one child.

No other units were affected within the complex, located at 2810 S. Park Avenue.

Minneapolis Fire says they found no one was injured during the incident, but adds the Red Cross is helping one person in the fire-damaged unit, as well as two adults and one child in the water-damaged unit.

No other details about the affected tenants are available at this time.

All other tenants have returned to their units.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
