The supply chain issues we’ve been tracking are now hitting a billion-dollar business, your dogs and cats.
There’s a pet food shortage across the country.
A shortage of aluminum cans and manufacturers having a tough time getting raw ingredients has led to the problem.
Steven George, general manager at Pet Stuff in Minnetonka, says the shortage may last a while.
“Food brands are promising they are going to get better in the next four and six months; others are saying it might be up to a year before we see some of their products back in stock,” George said. “It really is kind of a wave of one week it’s ten brands, other weeks it may be one brand that has a shortage, so it really depends on a weekly basis.”
Pet food prices have gone up about 10% to 15% over the last few months.
