5 shootings in 10-hour span leave 7 hurt in Minneapolis

Several people were injured Thursday due to multiple separate shootings in Minneapolis.

According to Minneapolis police, no arrests had been made by Friday morning in connection to any of the five shootings that happened in a 10-hour span.

The first shooting happened just after 1 p.m. along the 800 block of 24th Avenue Northeast. Police say officers found damage from gunshots on nearby vehicles and buildings, as well as blood at the scene. Officers were then told that a man in his 20s arrived at a hospital with apparent life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Just after 5 p.m., officers called to the area of East 27th Street and Bloomington Avenue found a woman suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, and police say evidence indicates gunshots were fired from at least one vehicle.

Then, just before 8 p.m., officers heard gunshots near North Fourth Street and West Broadway Avenue and found vehicles apparently damaged by gunfire. Officers were then told that a man with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds had arrived at a hospital but no other details were immediately available.

At around 9:10 p.m., officers were called to a shooting along the 3600 block of Penn Avenue North and found two men in their 20s with apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to a hospital but provided limited information to investigators.

And, at 10:40 p.m., police responded to the area of Penn Avenue North and West Broadway Avenue, where officers found a man and a woman suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds at a bus stop. The victims were taken to a hospital for treatment and are believed to have been injured by gunshots from inside a passing vehicle.

Metro Transit police are investigating that shooting while Minneapolis police are investigating the first four shootings.
