A woman was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon in Ham Lake after a driver in the opposite lane drifted over the median, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said.
Just after 2:30 p.m., a man driving a Ford Taurus westbound on Crosstown Boulevard Northeast crossed the center line near 173rd Avenue Northeast, hitting an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu head-on, the sheriff’s office said.
The woman driving the Malibu was taken to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, where she was later pronounced dead. The man was airlifted to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.
The deceased’s identity will be released at a later time.
