Man dies in overnight Minneapolis shooting
A man has died following a shooting on the 2200 block of Ilion Avenue North in Minneapolis, according to Minneapolis police.
The press release says a ShotSpotter went off around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, and when officers arrived to the scene they found a man who had been shot. The man, 32-year-old Michael Darnell Smith of Minneapolis, died at the scene despite lifesaving measures by police and paramedics.
Police say no arrests have been made, and the incident is under investigation.
This is the 35th homicide in Minneapolis this year.
