Firefighters investigate cause of restaurant, pavilion fire at Bde Maka Ska

Crews were at the scene of a restaurant and pavilion fire along Bde Maka Ska, also known as Lake Calhoun, in Minneapolis early Thursday morning.
The fire reportedly began at about 4 a.m. Minneapolis Deputy Fire Chief Don Leedham said residents living nearby reported the fire.
According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, the fire occurred at the restaurant Lola on the Lake and a nearby pavilion along the 3000 block of East Calhoun Parkway. Crews were using master streams, or a device that allows increased water flow, to work on extinguishing the fire.
The fire department stated the bulk of the fire had been extinguished by about 5 a.m.
Firefighers said it did not appear that anyone was inside the pavilion at the time of the fire.
“No victims or injuries reported,” the department tweeted.
Leedham said investigators were looking into whether lightning was a factor in the fire.

“You know, it was in the middle of a storm and there was a lot of lightning going on,” Leedham said. “I’m not going to rule anything out at this time, but the arson investigator talked to certain residents and right now … his initial thought was that it might just be a lightning strike.”
