The betting favorite in the series, the Wild lost three straight games to St. Louis, falling 4-2 in the series. The Wild lost Games 4, 5, and 6. To not even force a Game 7 this weekend is one of many disappointing things.
Minnesota hockey icon Lou Nanne, who calls a few games for Wild telecasts, joined our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson for a chat, via Zoom. Nanne acknowledged the frustrating end to the season, but doesn’t call the totality a disappointment. The Wild set numerous franchise records on their way to 113 points in the regular season.

The Wild have a number of questions to answer heading into the offseason, including whether to re-sign free agent goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. If not, is Cam Talbot back to being the guy? He does have 1-year left on his deal.
The Wild will take significant cap hits from buying out the contracts of Ryan Suter and Zach Parise last year. So, a tough decision will likely have to be made between forward Kevin Fiala and defenseman Matt Dumba. One, seemingly, has to get traded.
Let the fascination begin, far sooner than many of us thought.
