The state of Minnesota will be represented at the Kentucky Derby this year.
Barry Butzow and his wife Joni own Zozos, a colt that finished second at the Louisiana Derby to qualify for the 2022 Kentucky Derby.
“This is a thrill for our entire family,” said Barry Butzow. “We have about 60 people who will be at the derby enjoying this experience. It’ll be something we’ll never forget.”

Barry and his wife Joni reside in Eden Prairie.
A Kentucky Derby tradition, the walk has owners along with their family and friends accompany the horse from the stable area around the racetrack while the crowd sings “My Old Kentucky Home.”
“We got to do it once before and I can flat-out tell you it sends chills through your body and I tried my best to not fall down on the track. To see that many people watching you walk with the horse on the track is something that’s hard to describe,” Butzow adds.
The Kentucky Derby will take place on Saturday, May 7.
