Deputies recover body from Mississippi River south of Cottage Grove

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says a body was recovered Wednesday evening from the Mississippi River in Denmark Township.

The body was spotted by BNSF Railway just after 5 p.m. near 120th Street South on the east bank of the river. The Washington County Water Recovery Team and sheriff’s deputies responded to the area and found the body of a man just north of Lock and Dam No. 2.

The man’s name is being withheld pending family notification.
