Man injured in overnight Minneapolis rollover crash

UPDATE: Minneapolis police say one man was injured during an overnight rollover crash near the downtown area.

According to police, officers were called to the area of Groveland Avenue and Pillsbury Avenue S. shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday for a report of a rollover crash.

The driver, identified as a 69-year-old man, said he had crashed, his vehicle had rolled over and he was trapped. Police say he was the only person inside the vehicle.

He was then extricated from the vehicle by firefighters.

The driver was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries, and police also went to the hospital with a warrant to gather evidence of possible intoxication after they say they saw possible signs of impairment at the crash site.

The crash also caused damage to an unoccupied and parked vehicle.

Police say charges will be considered based on the results of the evidence.

INITIAL ARTICLE: Minneapolis police are investigating an overnight rollover crash that damaged at least two vehicles near the downtown area.

A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS photographer saw the crash scene near Groveland and Pillsbury Avenue S. shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday.

A damaged SUV could be seen on its side, and at least one parked car was also damaged.

No word yet on how many people were inside the vehicle, or if anyone was seriously injured.
