Minnesota lawmaker sentenced to 1 year of probation for DWI
A Minnesota state lawmaker will serve one year of supervised probation for drunken driving.
Rep. Tou Xiong (DFL-Maplewood) was sentenced and had pleaded guilty to one of the two counts of DWI he was charged with. The other was dismissed. A potential 90-day jail sentence was stayed for a year and will be waived as long as Xiong doesn’t violate the terms of his probation.
He was pulled over on Jan. 8 and later apologized for his actions.
Xiong is in his second term after being first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2018.
