Tornado siren, radio testing scheduled for Thursday

Residents in Minnesota and Wisconsin can expect to hear siren and notification system testing Thursday in the midst of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
In addition to the testing Thursday, each day this week, meteorologists and local officials are highlighting various severe weather safety topics.

The following drills are planned for Thursday, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA):
1 p.m.
A test tornado watch, during which NOAA will issue information via social media, an online public information statement (you can view a list of various weather offices and their corresponding statements here), and a message on NOAA Weather Radio.
1:45 p.m.
A test tornado warning. Outdoor warning sirens will be activated by individual counties, according to NOAA. There will also be a radio tone alert submitted by NOAA. Information will also be released on social media and via a public information statement.
6:45 p.m.
Another test tornado warning will be issued at this time and will follow the steps taken during the 1:45 p.m. drill.
The NOAA recommends that Minnesotans and Wisconsinites have more than one way to receive severe weather alerts.
