Victim of fatal weekend shooting in Minneapolis identified
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who was shot and killed this past weekend in Minneapolis.
According to the medical examiner, 27-year-old Darrell Lamont Sims II of Brooklyn Park was shot in the chest on the 2400 block of Elliot Avenue in Minneapolis shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday. Police said he was found in a backyard near Elliot Avenue South and East 24th Street.
Sims died at Hennepin Healthcare early Sunday morning, and his death has been declared a homicide.
Police said they responded to four separate shootings Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
As of Tuesday morning, police did not have anyone in custody in the shooting that caused Sims’ death.
However, Minneapolis police Sunday they had taken two people into custody in regards to the other shootings.
