1 found dead after fire in Hugo
One person was found dead after a house fire in Hugo this past weekend.
Hugo Fire and Rescue says crews were called to an attached garage fire near 132nd Street and Ingersoll Avenue North at around 3:26 p.m. Saturday.
When firefighters arrived, they found the garage fully involved with flames. The department says crews were able to knock down most of the fire within minutes.
Crews then searched the home, found a person on the second level and began lifesaving efforts. However, the victim — identified as 37-year-old Daniel Scott Bailey — was pronounced dead at the scene.
His cause of death hasn’t yet been determined but no foul play is expected, authorities said.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office led the death investigation, and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will now determine Bailey’s cause of death.
The State Fire Marshal Division ruled the fire as accidental, the sheriff’s office says.
