Boys State Basketball: Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa edges New Life Academy 55-53 in Class 1A Semifinals

In each of its previous three trips to the Boys Basketball State Tournament, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa has made an appearance in the Class A championship game. In 2011, the Jaguars were the Class A runner-up and in 2012 and 2014, respectively, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa claimed the Class A crown.
The Jaguars are now 4 for 4.
No. 2 Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa earned another spot in the championship round following a 55-53 victory over No. 3 New Life Academy on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus. Luke Dingmann, a 6-foot-3 sophomore guard, made two free throws with 15.9 seconds remaining to lift the Jaguars (28-4) into the Class A title game against No. 1 Hayfield on Saturday at 11 a.m. Dingmann, who ended with 15 points, including 5 of 5 from the free throw line, was fouled during an aggressive drive down the left side of the lane.
Moments earlier, New Life Academy’s Colton Hendricks, a 6-foot-7 junior forward, forged a tie at 53-all when he was fouled on a made basket following a power move. Sophomore guard Kollin Kaemingk had 23 points to pace the Eagles (27-4).
Junior guard Kaden Pieper also had 15 points for Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.
