Multiple events are happening Thursday around the Twin Cities metro area to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
For the first time in a few years, those celebrations won’t be held with strong COVID-19 restrictions.
One of those events is the St. Paul St. Patrick’s Day parade, which is truly back for the first time since 2019. The parade was canceled in 2020, and was modified as a drive-through parade last year due to the pandemic. However, that’s all in the past as of Thursday.
The parade will start at 12 p.m. in Rice Park and end at CHS Field, where there will be a post-parade party with live music, Irish dancers as well as food and drinks.
Starting at 10 a.m., there will be a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at The Landmark Center, where guests can enjoy music, Irish food and a craft fair. Organizers say the event will require guests to have proof of vaccination and costs $5 to enter.
Another parade will kick off at 6 p.m. Thursday in Columbia Heights. It will start at 40th and Van Buren, and will head down 40th to Murzyn Hall, where there will be an after-party that includes dancers, music and an Irish buffet. Entry is $10 for those who are at least 12 years of age.
Metro Transit says it will be offering Miller Free Rides Thursday after 6 p.m.
