High School Boys Basketball: Wayzata dominates Minneapolis South 77-55 on its way to state

Wayzata showed that they’re the defending Class 4A champs as they ran past Minneapolis South 77-55 in the Section 6AAAA finals on Tuesday night to return to the state tournament.

St. Thomas signee Carter Bjerke led the Trojans with 26 points as top-seeded Wayzata improved to 25-4 on the season.
Wayzata got off to a fast start and lead the game early 24-5. Minneapolis South had a difficult time trying to keep up with the Trojans high-powered offense. The Trojans led by as many 26 points. South could only get within 16-points in the second half before Wayzata pulled away for good.
Minneapolis South does have a lot to be proud of. The Tigers beat Hopkins in the Section 6AAAA semifinals before falling to Wayzata.
Wayzata will try and defend its title from a year ago after losing two seniors to graduation and Cam Heide transferring to a prep school in Utah.
