Wild send Sturm to Avs for Jost

The Minnesota Wild completed an intradivisional trade on Tuesday.

The team sent center Nico Sturm to the Colorado Avalanche for center/winger Tyson Jost.

Sturm, who will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, played in 53 games for Minnesota this season, totaling 17 points (9+8=17). The 26-year-old was undrafted and had played his entire career in Minnesota since his debut in 2018-19. In total, he played 111 games for the Wild, scoring 36 points (20+16=36).

Jost, 24, has one year left on his contract at $2 million. He’s played his entire career with Colorado since debuting in 2016-17, totaling 103 points (45+58=103) in 321 games. This season, he’s played 59 games and scored 14 points (6+8=14).

Jost was drafted No. 10 overall by Colorado in 2016.

The NHL trade deadline is 2 p.m. Monday.

Minnesota entered Tuesday with 72 points, in third place in the Central Division and tied for fifth in the Western Conference.
