Meyers, Faber, Motzko honored by Big Ten

Several members of the University of Minnesota men’s hockey team received big honors from the conference on Tuesday.

The Big Ten Conference named Ben Meyers the Big Ten Player of the Year, Brock Faber the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Bob Motzko the Big Ten Coach of the Year.
Meyers and Faber were also named First Team All-Big Ten selections while Matthew Knies and Jackson LaCombe were named Second Team All-Big Ten. Knies also was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, and Justen Close, Blake McLaughlin and Sammy Walker were named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention.
“Our guys have just rolled with any punch that got thrown at them, they just roll with it and keep going,” Minnesota head coach Bob Motzko told Big Ten Network. “It’s just been an excellent group of young men to be around. You just count your blessings when you have seasons like this with leadership like this and the group of kids we have.”
The Gophers host Michigan in the Big Ten championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday.
