Gophers to play Green Bay in 1st round of WNIT
The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team is heading east for its first-round matchup in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
Monday, the tournament announced the Gophers will play the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. The game will start at 7 p.m. Thursday and will be played in Green Bay.
Minnesota is 8-6 all-time against the Phoenix and 2-3 in Green Bay. The last time the teams met was in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, when the Gophers won 89-77.
The Gophers are making their sixth appearance in the WNIT; the program’s last WNIT appearance was in 2019.
Minnesota finished the regular season with a record of 14-17 (7-11 in conference play). Green Bay went 19-7 (14-4 in the Horizon League).
General admission tickets go on sale Tuesday at noon, starting at $10.
