The Hopkins Royals girls basketball team punched their ticket to state with a convincing 84-66 win over Wayzata on Friday night in the Section 6AAAA championship game.

Liv McGill led the way for the Royals with 21 points. Nunu Agara chipped in with 20 points.

Wayzata fell behind early before mounting a comeback in the first half, but Hopkins is one of the strongest teams in the state taking a 41-35 lead at halftime.

Hopkins beat Wayzata for the third time this season and now awaits the seeding for the state tournament next week. The Royals will likely be the top seed in Class AAAA.
