St. Louis Park, Target expire mask mandates

A face covering ordinance in St. Louis Park has officially expired.

According to the city, the emergency ordinance that required face coverings in public places expired at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.

In addition, Target has dropped its mask mandate.

Company officials say as COVID-19 cases continue to drop across the country, Target will no longer require employees or customers to wear them, except at locations where local guidelines say a mask is necessary.

Target also says it encourages both team members and guests to get vaccinated.

The cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis – where the company is based – still have mask mandates in place.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), still recommend everyone wear face coverings in public indoor settings, especially in areas of high community transmission, regardless of vaccination status.
