Lockdown lifted at Stillwater Area High School
A lockdown at Stillwater Area High School has been lifted.
According to an initial message sent to families by the school district Tuesday, the school was placed on an emergency lockdown due to a police investigation inside the building.
In a follow-up message shared with families and 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, district officials wrote police notified them just before 8 a.m. they were on the campus and pursuing a teen involved in an incident within the community.
After the district was notified, they began a lockdown to keep students and staff in classrooms, and to prevent anyone from entering or leaving the school while police continued the pursuit.
District officials say the lockdown, which was put in place around 8 a.m., was lifted at 8:30 a.m. once the suspect was apprehended.
According to the district, they have resumed their normal class schedule.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has reached out to Stillwater police regarding more information on the incident that took place within the community, but have not heard back as of this time.
