Gophers, Lynx legend Lindsay Whalen named a finalist for Hall of Fame

Minnesota basketball legend Lindsay Whalen has been named a finalist for the 2022 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in her first year of eligibility.
The hall announced the list of finalists on Friday after initially naming the list of newly eligible candidates back in December.
Whalen, who starred on the University of Minnesota Gophers, Connecticut Sun, Minnesota Lynx and U.S. National team, is currently the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Minnesota.
She won four WNBA titles with the Lynx, was named All-WNBA five times, finished her career as the winningest player in league history, third in assists as well as top-20 in career points and steals. Internationally, Whalen won gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 World Championships plus gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic games.
The other finalists are Leta Andrews, Swin Cash, Michael Cooper, Hugh Evans, Manu Ginóbili, Tim Hardaway, Bob Huggins, Marques Johnson, George Karl and Marianne Stanley.
The selected class will be announced in April.
