No. 5 Maple Grove shutout Irondale/St. Anthony in 5AA Quarterfinal

The No. 5 Maple Grove Crimson girls hockey team defeated the Irondale/St. Anthony Knights 6-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Roseville Ice Arena, in the Section 5AA Quarterfinal.

In the first period, Crimson sophomore defenseman Grace Erickson scored to make it 1-0. Irondale junior goalie Jennifer Rupp made up for the team only getting one shot on goal by allowing just one first-period goal.
Maple Grove senior Annika Johnson scored on an assist from junior Emily Oakland to make it a 2-0 game heading into the final period. Rupp again stood on her head, while the Knights only got two shots on goal in the second period.
The Crimson would pull away in the third period. Junior forward Stella Retrum scored on an assist from Erickson to make it a 3-0 game. Later, Retrum scored again, this time from sophomore forward Bella Shipley, to make it a 4-0 game with 8:54 left in the game. Junior forward Ella Olson scored on a breakaway to make it 5-0 Maple Grove. Finally, junior Haley Nord found freshman Kelsey Olson to make it 6-0 Crimson.
