No. 4 Benilde-St. Margaret’s wins thriller over No. 3 Chaska

The No. 4 (Class 3A) Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knights defeated the No. 3 (Class 4A) Chaska Hawks 65-63 on Friday evening at Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School.

Chaska was led by junior guard Ashley Schuelke, who hit big shot after big shot to keep Chaska in front most of the game. In the second half, junior guard Ellianna Lenzen hit two big shots back-to-back to put Chaska up late. But, Chaska couldn’t make their free throws and let the Red Knights hang around.

The Red Knights were led by freshman guard Kendall McGee, who was hitting shots all night and star sophomore guard Olivia Olson. Olson was a force on both ends of the floor. In the second half, she stepped up her scoring to will the Red Knights to a 63-63 game with five seconds remaining. Olson then took a full-court pass to the basket and hit a game-winning layup with just 1.3 seconds left in the game.
