State funds available to livestock producers
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is encouraging farmers and ranchers to apply for funds to improve their livestock operations.
Qualifying improvements include, but are not limited to, watering systems, fences, pasture development and buildings for housing livestock.
Up to $443,000 is available through the Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation (AGRI) grant program. Awards will range from $400 all the way up to $25,000.
Each livestock operation is eligible for $50,000 over the program’s lifetime. The deadline to apply is April 5.
Livestock production is a $7 billion industry in Minnesota annually.
