Duluth mask mandate to expire Saturday
Duluth’s mask mandate will come to an end this weekend.
Hubbard Broadcasting affiliate WDIO-TV reports that Duluth Mayor Emily Larson announced she’ll let the mandate expire at 5 p.m. Saturday.
The mayor told WDIO that she made that decision after talking to local hospitals and business groups.
“As we lift this order…it’s really, really important to remember that we are not done with COVID,” Larson said Wednesday.
Duluth’s mandate began Jan. 14 and required everyone 5 and older to wear a mask in indoor public places, including stores and businesses. While failing to comply could result in a misdemeanor, WDIO reports that police haven’t been notified of any such charges, although Larson said the city did talk to some businesses that had complaints filed against them.
