St. Michael-Albertville gets a lift from Tessa Johnson who scored 27 points on Tuesday night in the team’s win over Wayzata.

After a slow start, the Wayzata Trojans fought back and sent the game to the locker room tied at 25 at the half.

Wayzata’s Mara Braun was on fire in the second half — she scored 24 of her 27 points after halftime. Braun will play for the Gophers next year. The Knights sent the game to overtime thanks to a huge shot by Ava Haus with 28 seconds remaining that tied the score at 68.

In the extra frame, it was Johnson and teammate Emma Miller doing much of the damage. Miller finished with 18 points as the No. 5 ranked Knights improve to 17-4 on the season. The No. 7 ranked Trojans fall to 14-5 on the season in Class 4A.
