Maple Grove woman sentenced to 25 years for killing boyfriend
A Maple Grove woman was sentenced Monday for the 2020 murder of her boyfriend.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office says 31-year-old Stephanie Clark was sentenced to more than 25½ years in prison.
A jury convicted Clark of intentional second-degree murder in October.
According to the criminal complaint, on March 5, 2020, officers responded to an apartment in the 6200 block of Magda Drive just before 6 p.m. There, a witness told police she’d heard loud bangs from a nearby apartment and then heard someone knock on her door. When she opened it, the witness saw Clark with her 5-year-old son and Clark said, “He’s dead.”
The witness also told police she tried to console Clark, who then said she “shot him because he hit me.”
The victim was identified as 30-year-old Don’Juan Butler.
