1 found dead during St. Cloud house fire

One person is dead following an early-morning house fire Monday in St. Cloud.

According to the St. Cloud Police Department, officers and firefighters were called to a home on the 100 block of 17th Avenue South just before 4:30 a.m. Monday.

When officers arrived, they saw smoke in the house and helped one person out, who also happened to be in a wheelchair.

Another person had left the home, however, police were told a third person may have been on the second floor of the home.

Firefighters conducted a search and found an adult – who officials say had already died – on the second floor.

No details regarding the victim were immediately provided, and officials say an autopsy will be done by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.

While no one else was reported injured, police say the Red Cross is helping one resident.

About $70,000 in damage was reported.
