St. Paul Winter Carnival now underway

Friday marks the beginning of the St. Paul Winter Carnival, and some of the festivities are already underway.
For example, the ice carving competition – each team gets 48 hours to turn frozen blocks of ice into masterpieces.
The competition is one of the many things people can see in the downtown area through next weekend.
While the official kickoff has yet to happen, there are some events happening ahead of time.
There are also some new events happening, such as the fire and ice winter run on Sunday.
