St. Paul police investigating two Wednesday night shootings

Police are investigating a pair of shootings that happened within an hour of each other in St. Paul Wednesday night.

According to police, officers were first called to the 600 block of Rice Street for a shooting around 7:10 p.m. at the Holiday Gas Station.

When they arrived, they found a man was dropped off by another person at Regions Hospital, and had been shot in the torso.

The man is only identified by being in his 40’s, however police say his injuries are non-life threatening.

Police said Thursday an officer who was monitoring the scene from cameras in the area saw a person was spotted walking on Rice Street near 175 Charles Avenue, and had possibly put a firearm on a dumpster.

Officials say they found the man in front of that address, and also found a stolen firearm from the dumpster.

A 39-year-old man was taken to the Ramsey County Jail for charges of Possession of a Firearm and Dangerous Discharge of a Firearm. According to police, the man was spotted on security footage, and was allegedly shooting at vehicles.

Meanwhile, officers were also called to the 70 block of Hatch Avenue at 7:40 p.m. for a report of a man being shot.

That man, who is also in his 40’s, was dropped off at Regions Hospital for injuries from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police stated Thursday the victim was taken to the hospital by a woman who he had flagged down, and when officers questioned her, her story changed multiple times.

St. Paul police say officers were able to determine this particular incident was related to a shots fired call on the 400 block of E. Ivy, and a person had been shot at the same time as this incident.

No one has been arrested in this shooting.

Officers say they do not know if the incident on Rice Street is related to the second shooting they responded to.
