The Loons will adjust to the departures of a trio of last season’s veteran leaders. Ozzie Alonso signed with Atlanta, Jan Gregus departed for San Jose and Ethan Finlay joined Austin.
First round draft pick Tani Oluwaseyi is among the newcomers this season and Abu Danladi, the Loons first-ever draft pick, returns after a stint with Nashville. Newly signed Bongokuhle Hlongwane of South Africa is expected to arrive as soon as immigration paperwork is completed.
For a variety of reasons, several of the team’s key returners have yet to arrive for camp including Adrien Hunou (Covid protocol), Romain Metanire (present but not practicing) Robin Lod (military duty in Finland) and MIchael Boxall (International play w/ New Zealand national team).
The Loons have one week of training at their headquarters in Blaine before heading to Orlando for training camp and preseason matches.
United’s season opens February 26th in Philadelphia. The home opener is on March 5th against Nashville.
