Gophers volleyball star Samedy starts pro career in Germany

Former University of Minnesota volleyball star Stephanie Samedy has started her professional career in Germany.

The Gophers announced the five-time All-American signed with SSC Palmberg Schwerin and has now joined the roster.

"I’m looking forward to my first season in the Volleyball Bundesliga and I’m really excited about what awaits me here," Samedy said in a statement.

Former Gophers star Hannah Tapp also played for SSC Palmberg Schwerin after leaving the U of M but no longer plays for the team.

Samedy is a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year and the only Gopher to be named First Team All-American four times. She’s also the second player in Big Ten history to tally 2,000 kills and 1,500 digs in a career.
