Gophers hire Brick Haley to coach defensive line
The University of Minnesota Gophers football team has hired a new defensive line coach.
The program announced Friday that Brick Haley was hired, pending completion of a background check.
Haley has over 30 years of coaching experience, including past stops at Mississippi State, the Chicago Bears, Louisiana State, Texas and, most recently, Missouri.
At Missouri, he coached defensive tackles Jordan Elliott and Terry Beckner, Jr. Elliott was a first-team All-American in 2019 before being drafted No. 88 overall by the Cleveland Browns in 2020. Beckner earned All-SEC honors in 2018 and has played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears.
The Gadsden, Alabama native played at Alabama A&M from 1984-88, was named the team’s most valuable player his senior year and was inducted into the school’s hall of fame in 2005.
