4 new flu deaths, 80 hospitalizations reported in Minnesota
Four new influenza-related deaths have been reported in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Department of Health’s latest flu activity report shows four new flu-related deaths, moving the state’s total this season to 16, including one pediatric death. The median age of those who’ve died is 69.5.
Additionally, 80 new flu-related hospitalizations were reported across the state last week, down from each of the past two weeks. The state has recorded 418 total flu-related hospitalizations this season.
The report also lists three new flu-related school outbreaks last week and seven new long-term care center outbreaks. A total of 140 flu-related school outbreaks have been reported across the state this season compared to 21 long-term care outbreaks.
Minnesota remains one of the last states in the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to have minimal flu activity.
