St. Paul to close roads around federal courthouse during ex-officers’ trial
The federal trial of three former Minneapolis police officers charged in George Floyd’s death will begin at the federal courthouse in downtown St. Paul on January 20.
During the trial, some streets around the courthouse will be closed, and parking will also be limited.
The city says St. Paul police have been preparing for the trial for weeks and will work to ensure the proceedings are safe for all involved while protecting property and free speech.
Starting January 18:
- Parking on the north side of Kellogg Boulevard, from Cedar Avenue to Robert Street, will be restricted throughout the trial.
- The Capital City bike lane on Jackson Street will close for the duration of the trial.
- Robert Street, between Kellogg Boulevard and Fourth Street East, will be closed for the duration of the trial.
- Jackson Street, between Kellogg Boulevard and Fourth Street East, will be closed for the duration of the trial.
The city says it will provide updates about road closures, parking restrictions and other activities outside the courthouse on the St. Paul Police website.
The federal trial for three former Minneapolis police officers will start Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Warren E. Burger Federal Building in downtown Saint Paul.
