Semi crash leads to thousands of gallons of spilt milk on roadway

A semi-truck rollover crash Wednesday morning led to thousands of gallons of milk spilling onto the roadway, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

At 8:18 a.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a semi rollover on CSAH 2 and 395th Street in Watkins. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found 62-year-old Byron Weigelt, of Atwater, had been driving south on CSAH when he was unable to see the curve on 395th due to fog.

The milk-filled semi truck and trailer rolled onto its side, spilling about 6,000 gallons of milk in the process, the sheriff’s office said.

Weigelt suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene. Watkins ambulance, rescue and fire also responded to the crash.
