There’s a new movement to honor a 6-year-old girl killed earlier this year in Minneapolis by helping families in need.
Aniya Allen died after being shot in Minneapolis earlier this year.
Her grandfather, activist KG Wilson, is now organizing a toy drive to bring a spark of joy to children after a difficult year.
"This is emotional and a memorial and it’s because of what happened to my 6-year-old granddaughter," Wilson said. "There’s a tragedy connected to it, but we want to do something good out of it. Something good out of it to help somebody."
Those interested can drop off toys for children ages 3 to 6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Dec. 22 at So Low Grocery Outlet on Lowry and Emerson avenues in north Minneapolis.
On Dec. 23, the gifts will be delivered to families in need.
