New riders are learning the importance of motorcycle safety in Minneapolis.

The Progressive International Motorcycle Show opened Friday at the Minneapolis Convention Center, and part of the draw this year is an indoor new-rider course with electric, speed-limited bikes.

"We're trying to make that ideal first riding experience for new riders," said Robert Pandya, a spokesman for the motorcycle show.

The show also features virtual reality experiences that let riders experience what it's like biking on highways and other terrains.

The motorcycle show runs until 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $16 for adults and free for kids under 12.
