Dozier, former Minnesota Twin, announces retirement after 9-year MLB career

Thursday, former Minnesota Twins infielder Brian Dozier announced his retirement after a nine-year Major League Baseball career.
Dozier played for the Minnesota Twins as a shortstop and then second baseman. During his time with the Twins from 2012-2018, the 33-year-old batted .248/.325/.441 (928-for-3742) with 593 runs scored, 202 doubles, 21 triples, 167 home runs, 491 RBI and 98 stolen bases in 955 games.
According to the Twins, Dozier’s 167 homers by a second baseman broke records in club history, and he is one of two players in club history to record a 20 double/20 homer season at that position, doing so in four-straight years from 2014-2017. His career-high 42 home runs in 2016 made him the second Twin to ever hit the 40-homer plateau, according to the team.
Dozier was then traded to Los Angeles in 2018 and spent the rest of his career with the Dodgers; Washington Nationals, earning a World Series ring with the team in 2019; San Diego Padres; and New York Mets.
