Golden Valley house fire under investigation

Just before 3 a.m. on Thursday, the Golden Valley Fire Department was notified of a house fire on the 3100 block of Kyle Avenue North.

Upon arrival, fire crews saw that the fire had spread to multiple levels. The house was unoccupied.

Crews from Golden Valley, Robbinsdale and St. Louis Park ultimately put out the fire and were on scene until 8 a.m. Assistance from the West Metro, Plymouth and Minnetonka fire departments was also requested to examine the home properly.

Golden Valley Police Chief John Crelly said the fire was a big challenge because of the type of home — a four-level split home elevated off the ground.

"The best way to describe this — the house is built on piers like a big treehouse," Crelly said.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Golden Valley Fire Department.
