Hip-hop star Master P made a visit to Minnehaha Academy for an important discussion.
"It’s so much hate. You can feel the hate — how do we overcome the hate? We gotta overcome it with love," Master P said.
On Tuesday, Master P held a roundtable on race relations with members of the Red Hawks basketball team.
It was a chance for the players and Master P to open up about what they’ve seen in their community and on the news.
"For me as a Black father, having kids go here, I thought this was probably one of the nicest places. I mean, you talk about whites, Blacks, Asians — I’ve never seen that, so this was like a shocker to me to have to deal with this, that this would be happening in Minnesota," Master P said.
"And I fear for my kids when they go to school in the morning," he added. "I feel like, ‘What’s going to happen when they get pulled over by the police?’"
Master P says he hopes the conversation can be the start of a larger conversation with the rest of the school.
