For the past five years, a Minnesota man has made it his mission to spread a little sunshine across the state.

Johnny Olson, the owner of Fish Sunflowers, has been planting sunflower fields and extending an invitation to anyone who wants to come — and there’s no admission fee.

He says each field he plants has a different theme. For example, a field in Otsego that’s in bloom right now is dedicated to educators. He’s also planted fields for caregivers and people battling cancer.

"Every field has got more than just the flower there," Olson said "It’s the people behind it, the person behind it."

Visitors can get ice cream and walk the trails at each field, and there’s a treasure hunt for kids, too.

The locations rotate as the flowers bloom — each bloom lasts around 10 days. A list of fields can be found on the Fish Sunflowers website.
