As the city of Minneapolis looks to rebuild following the rioting and civil unrest earlier this year, some neighborhoods are feeling left out.
That includes many Black-owned businesses along West Broadway Avenue in north Minneapolis, many of which are still boarded up.
Wednesday, Felicia Perry, the executive director of the West Broadway Business and Area Coalition, said there’s still a lot of uncertainty for her neighbors. She added that they want direct investment from their community and ownership to truly build wealth.
The plea to lawmakers was part of a rebuild roundtable, featuring several business and community leaders across the Twin Cities.
