Every year, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS highlights the work that local organizations are doing.

It’s part of our Why We Give series.

Twin Cities Live Host Elizabeth Ries shares how the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is extending and improving lives.

The foundation’s work also hits close to home for Elizabeth. Her cousin, Jeff, had a life-saving liver transplant almost 10 years ago, but it’s not a cure. Breathing treatments and other therapies have significantly extended the lifespan of CF patients.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation recently announced it’s investing $110 million in a new tech startup that focuses on gene therapy for CF patients.
