Teenage suspect in Woodbury carjacking arrested

A teenage suspect in a Woodbury carjacking has been arrested, police said Wednesday.

According to Woodbury Police, a 16-year-old was arrested by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office in connection to another case but officers believe the teen is one of the suspects involved in a string of robberies and carjackings earlier this week in Woodbury.

Police said detectives from around the Twin Cities are working together to identify the other suspects.

Additionally, the department reminded residents to not leave vehicles unlocked, garage doors open, keys in vehicles or vehicles running. One recent vehicle theft in the Colby Lake neighborhood was a vehicle inside a garage that had the keys in it, police said. They added that it’s important to note a vehicle can still be stolen if it’s running with a proximity fob.

Residents are urged to be aware of their surroundings and to call 911 if suspicious behavior is seen.
